LAUGHING OUT LOUD -  VERY LOUD  !!!!!

Gibson invites you to witness a revolution.

"Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp, will address members of the press, artists and fans, with an announcement that will change music forever. This is more than a press conference. More than an event. This is an uprising!"
I Think It's Pure Bullshit Myself  Ed Roman

On the internet people were buzzing about what the Revolution could be. Reasonably priced guitars that people can actually purchase? A Les Paul neck that doesn't break? Quality control? Maybe they were hiring people who could actually level & dress frets and cut a nut properly. It turned out to be another variation of that worthless Robot guitar with built-in effects.

Ugly & definitely the wrong oversized  headstock I almost feel sorry for Gibson....  Almost !!!!

These corporate Wal-mart Idiots have really hit a new high in total & complete Ass-holery,  I have been saying this for the last 25 years and I stand by every negative word I ever said about Gibson.

When I was on Gibson’s payroll in the 90’s I was completely thrown for a loop when I started to realize the philosophies of this once great company.  Henry Juszkiewicz & his band of stuffed shirt, Armani suited, bean-counting blowhards have successfully put the last nails in the coffin that was once a guitar worth collecting and investing in.

Lets face it Gibson has never been innovative,  even in their best days their standard designs are nothing more than re-hashings  of guitars that hundreds of other people pioneered.

Granted the Firebird, Vee and Explorer were very cool when they originally came out.  But you must take into account that average Gibson players are far from innovative anyway.  That’s why the original Explorer Firebird & Vee was met with laughter & Derision. The Robot Guitar failed miserably.
When will this pack of idiots realize that Gibson people are looking for boring old heavy cumbersome guitars not because they are any good but because Jimi Page & Ace Frehley played one at some concert in 1966

This last vain attempt at attention grabbing BS is such a complete pitiful  ploy that even the diehard Gibson fans will finally realize what a smelly pile of camel dung that they have been supporting all these years.

  • Aaaaaw It's so cute now he thinks he's Steve Jobs
  • Go to the Gibson web site and click on Firebird X more info, and "page not found" comes up.

How can they launch a new product and not have the web page working. Somebody really screwed up.

  • Really. They should have hired an actor or professional speaker.

Also does the world really need another $5,700.00 Gibson guitar?

  • Now we have 2 people liking this out of 17,000 views..... Gibson is gaining some ground in the revolution.
  • And the slide was shown for an awkwardly long time. And it said "elegance and fine detail". And after eternities the speaker looked at the sign, too as we all had been minutes before him. The sign whose few words (four) we had ample opportunity to read ten times over by now. And I thought "Please, speaker, don't read 'elegance and fine detail' out loud to us!"

    But he did.

  • Business and music come together so beautifully......... Gibson; more time spent on creating decent instruments, less time spent in the boardroom please, now go, chop chop!
  • Shame on you, Henry.

For years now, inertia from the Gibson DE-EVOLUTION has been progressively increasing, and it's all your fault. Please note that us guitarists STILL want nothing more than practical instruments with decent quality, not futuristic nightmares priced like a vintage piece.

  • On the Gibson website it's promoted as a "very lightweight, ultra comfortable and fast playing physical guitar". Wow a PHYSICAL guitar?! Wow, that truly is revolutionary...I'm sick of all these imaginary guitars that flood the market right now!

I love how each of his presentation slides only have 5-6 words on them, and how it takes him a few glances each time to read them out loud word for word. With no. Enthusiasm. Whatsoever.

  • Once again, Gibson has spent no telling how much money designing a product that ALMOST 0.001% of the guitar buying public will want.

PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, BECAUSE YOUR DESIGN TEAM ARE IDIOTS !!!!

Most importantly The man has no passion for the guitar, No matter what he does he'll never be able to hide that fact !!!!
He has no presentation skills simply because he probably is not a player !!
He has no integrity, he has proven that over and over again with some of those imported limited editions that get assembled in the USA (Making it legal to be referenced as USA made)
He has no enthusiasm for his own products..  just listen to the presentation.

Unbelievable By the ones below actually Came right off Gibson's Own website
(What is wrong with them !!!!)

I still can't get over how much this looks like a toy guitar or guitar hero type controller. And I still can't believe it's not butter. A shame to the Firebird name, bring back the Firebird Studio instead, that's a great guitar at a nice price!

This thing sounds like crap. It actually sounds like a toy guitar from Target or something. Lol
      CletusBumpkin
I'll be the first to admit that we musicians are sometimes too conservative--how many posts have you read saying "Marshall rocks, anything else is crap"--I'd like to think I'm a little more open minded than that, but... Oh. My. Ghod. It's obvious that no musicians were consulted in the design of this product. I checked my calendar to be sure it wasn't April 1. No, Gibson really intends this as a serious musical instrument. Priced at $30 and sold at WalMart, this would make a great toy for a deaf child, but "heavy power chords" is not going to seduce me into donating $5K to Gibson's little R&D project. Even more hilarious than the tones themselves are the riffs on these sound samples! Have you guys ever actually listened to Rockabilly, or Heavy Metal? Gibson, please stop embarrassing yourself!

    •
your right this is an R&D project...but it is a big one. This is Gibson jumping on the bandwagon of L---6 where you buy the hardware and then keep coming back for software and updates. You can't just sell someone a killer guitar that'll last a lifetime, now you have to get a revenue stream and sign them up for a subscription or service. That's what Gibson is trying to do with this is change their business model. Its a business decision so I agree there product is designed by MBA's not musicians.

Now it makes sense. Firebird is not so much an instrument as a platform. The 5K is only the beginning. We'll have to buy Firebird(TM) accessories and Firebird(TM) software and Firebird(TM) upgrades (because let's face it, the version 1 tones are a joke). I'll bet they even have a Firebird(TM) user's group and a special secret handshake. Sorry for the bitterness but it's insulting to be served poo and told that it's caviar. At least it looks like there will be plenty of KoolAid to wash it down.

What is with everyone saying open mind?? What about hey, this thing sounds like crap and that is not one tone that I could use at a gig? Who sits with a Les Paul or any other guitar in a store and says "well, I guess I need an open mind" then, gives away their money to take it home? No, no open mind needed. You listen and say, this sounds great. You feel and say, this feels great. And then, you MUST have it!!
With this, there would never be a need to feel it. From what I have heard, it will forever be a nother in a long list of how Gibson is going down fast. Why don't they just start making stereos or something? It is clear all they want to do is import product from China. This is not a company that wants to make an American piece of wood sing. I am on my 2nd round of listening as I type. I am in tears laughing at how bad this thing sounds. It is like on of those Daisy Rock guitars with the speaker built in.
Hey, anyone notice that this is the same price as one that just has wood and strings?? Pretty funny. I guess on top of selling us crap, they want to shove in our face the profit they make on their "real" guitars. Lol. What a compny Gibson has become.

Let's face it, most people own 1 or 2 guitars. A special model they picked just for themselves. Fits like a glove. I personally own 27 guitars. It's my passion... & on Dec. 11th I will own 28.
If you like it buy it. It's hard to judge the firebird X without even playing it. Our ideas may not but that of others. If you can't spend 5K on your passion, then spend it on bills.
Remain openminded. I have never learned anything while talking. Do you hear that? Sounds like MASTER OF PUPPETS cranking out on my new FIREBIRD X

      - To the person trying to support invention with the comment below -

Invention is great when it is good. There is not one good sound here. This is just horrible. I guess the "plugged in" acoustic sound is ALMOST ok but, who wants that? The rest of the world is trying to get the real acoustic sound when plugged in. Anyone can get the electyric acoustic sound. This is really sad. I am ok with the gadgets and trying to do something new and..."cool". But wow, I am amazed at how bad every sound is. The distortion is even comical. As for the effects.... who cares. Why go through all this when you can use your delay pedal that you already own? So sure, I am with you - INVENT BABY! But this, this thing is very comical. Someone is actually standing in front of a crowd telling them "listen to this - listen to how good it sounds". Look like we have yet another Gibson flop. Can this company go any further down the tubes? Will they ever be great again?? Can't wait to see who the NEXT ceo is... they're coming soon....

This guitar is garbage. It looks like garbage, sounds like digital garbage and Gibson sould be ashamed to even consider making "guitars" like this. I guess today's players no longer need to learn the simple task of tuning their own guitars anymore. I wouldn't pay the $10 it cost to STRING this piece of s**t-stick in order to own it.

Stick to real guitars, and real talent.

I live about a mile from the factory here in Nashville and own Gibsons and would never let them go! Several of my friends work there and are proud of the heritage of the Gibson name. That being said, when I got wind they were re-issuing the Fire bird I was hopeful for a guitar that was a faithful re-creation. This ain't it! I loved the original but was never fortunate to own one. Why reinvent the wheel?

Its called the Firebird, not because its based off the firebird.

Its cause we are supposed to burn it.

WOW so many people living in the past, you will never reach the stars if you don't invent. And they told Les Paul no one will ever buy one of his new fangled electric guitars let alone learn how to play one.

For this kinda scratch I would want a Sustainer and a tremolo of some sort, preferably Wilkinson.

Gibson's bottom line is to sell cheap "licensed" Chinese manufactured guitars to as many people on this planet as is possible. They have and will continue to be very successful in this endeavor.

The Gibson name translates to "licensing opportunities" as evidenced when "made in China" products flood their very own sub-two-thousand-dollar product line. It's pathetic. Welcome to Gibson and (for the most part) American Corporate greed.

Honestly, I have an open mind, and given the time and money, I would totally sit down with this. You can't say that there aren't open ended opportunities on messing around and finding a new tone on it that you'll love. I can't say I'd necessarily gig with this, that just seems like it'd be cheating, but I'm sure there's a lot of fun to be had with this guitar.
Sure Gibson's classic guitars are the obvious best sellers, but seriously folks, try an open mind for once. Nobody is going to force you to play this.

what happened to gibson making beautiful classic rock machines?... start focusing on what you guys are good at instead of making some over priced guitar that is bound to break
