Veillette Guitars
Ever since Joe Veillette's first acoustic guitar,
built under the guidance of Michael Gurian in 1972, we've
maintained a constant curiosity and need to experiment. The
current range of acoustic instruments is the result of our
experience, both as players and builders, along with our
desire to create simple, functional, innovative musical
tools.
Different string configurations, scales, tunings and body
sizes present many different paths that can be taken. Our
goal is for one of these paths to be a straight line from
your creativity to the music that can emerge. |

Though it's the smallest acoustic Veillette makes, the Acoustic
Gryphon is no toy. Tuned to high D (2 frets lower than the 12th fret of
a standard guitar) and tuned with mandolin-style unison courses, the
Acoustic Gryphon's celestial, sparkling highs and punchy mid-register
give it unique cut and punch, and an unusually wide range of
applications. Guitarists will love being able to play mandolin-style
parts in a new high register, and even guitar-mandolin doublers will
find new horizons, like the ability to play guitar-like or fingerstyle
patterns in a mandolin tonality.
The acoustic Gryphon's unique range comes from its 18.5" scale length
and custom Gr-12 strings (gauges .008" to .042"). The Honduran mahogany
back, sides, and neck, Sitka spruce top, and Pau Ferro bridge and
fingerboard result in a tonally balanced, responsive, and beautiful
instrument.

This slightly-downsized version of the Veillette "Grand" shape
strikes a balance between the power of a full-sized guitar and the
balance and response of a 'parlor'-sized instrument. Able to perform
equally well as a fingerstyle or pick style instrument, the "Studio"
model particularly shines in the Standard-tuned 12-string configuration,
with brilliant high octave strings and a clear, present low range.
Available in 6 string and 12-string standard-tuned models, 6-string not
shown.

Acoustic Grand 16" Baritone
and Standard Tuning
The Grand 16" is the largest soundbox Veillette builds, and is
very well suited to the Baritone 6-strings and 12-strings that have been
Joe's specialty for years. The extra body depth and airspace let
the lower frequencies speak clearly.
