A few days before I wrote this little rant,
a customer came into the store & actually proceeded to
start an argument with me over the fact that ESP
Guitars
were as American as apple pie.
I always feel a little sorry these types of people (You know the type, The ones that live
& die by the brand
name). It just shows a level of
shallowness & an amazing close
mindedness.
They are usually on the defensive, usually very
confrontational. Usually they are transparent as
glass, because you can tell they have prepared for
the argument. Most of the time they have
prepared from distorted facts that they may have
read on a Harmony Central Review.
In many cases they have no idea what they
are talking about, You have to handle these people
with kid gloves and sometimes you can prod a
little sense into them. Sadly many times they have
that old familiar Gibson attitude.
"I'm a Fender Man" "I'm a Gibson Man"
"I'm a BC Rich Man"
Holy Christmas Batman!!
Have these
companies actually got these poor saps so
programmed that they now actually define their
manhood with a brand name.
True
Confessions:
Years ago when I was a Young Turk, I hadn't
attained a full level of intelligence, I used to
say proudly, "I'm a Harley
Davidson Man" I actually used to think that
anyone who rode anything else was to be used for
target practice on road trips.
At most of the biker events someone would always
bring in a Honda or a Yamaha or some kind of
Fratziwazi Imported bike. We would all proceed to
take turns with a sledge hammer for hours on end.
Eventually someone would light it on fire and
someone else would piss on it. There were a
few times I witnessed people actually squatting
down on it. (I'm laughing as I'm typing,
because it was truly funny}
I now look back at those times fondly, Only
because I was probably stupid drunk & having a
good time. However it's really a pretty dumbass
way to think. Today I wouldn't buy a Harley, It
just doesn't mean the same thing anymore!!
My point is simply, I think I am a relatively
intelligent person.
(But I now realize, I was just a Fu#%ng Idiot)
Because I myself was caught up in the same exact
hype as I am scolding people for on my site.
Nobody's Perfect,
But ya gotta keep tryin'

Don't Confuse Me With
The Facts
I've Already Made Up My Mind !
Ok I know, I
said this was gonna be a mini rant !!!
Back to the ESP
lover,
He tells me his
ESP has an American Flag on the back of it,
He
says they have a custom shop in the USA
(False)
Ladies &
Gentleman, Here is a photo of the ESP
American flag. Photo taken in my store.
The customer
apologized and told me the signature on his
covered the operative word "inspected"
I explained to
him that his $2,400.00 ESP was made up from
(See Table Below)
I have looked at several more of
these and usually the magic marker does cover the
word inspected.
