I owned an Original Coral Sitar back when I was kid, (I
am a huge Eric Burdon fan) I remember it being squirrelly, impossible to
tune and generally a poor quality instrument. Over the 32 years I have been
selling guitars I have probably acquired about 10 or 12 of the original models.
They were all pretty much problematic like the one I had owned. Basically I
was in no hurry to get involved with what I thought to be a cheap import copy of
the original.
I WAS WRONG!
Hey, it happens. Upon the recommendations of several people I respect, I
decided to try a couple of these guitars. First of all I discovered that they
are made in the USA. I was also pleasantly surprised at the playability and
tonal quality.
The Jerry Jones Sitar is a far far cry from the original
Coral, It may look exactly the same. That's where the comparison stops. Not
only does the instrument stay perfectly in tune but the Sitar sound is far
better. The neck felt great and it is a pleasure to play.
I think I'll go "Down to Monterey" get "Hooked on a
feeling" and "Cry like a Baby." (Ya' gotta' be over 50 to translate that line.)
