Details: This is the nicest Pre-CBS
Fender Stratocaster that Ed Roman Guitars has ever owned. The early models (1954
to mid 1965, known as "pre-CBS" models) are the most collectible. When looking
at vintage Fender Stratocasters the condition of the guitar and how much of the
guitar is in original standing, are the two most important features. This one in
both cases is outstanding. By mid-1964, the peg head "Fender" logo changed from the thin "spaghetti" logo to a more bolder "transition" logo on the headstock. The finishing procedure changed for the Strat at about the same time, which allowed Fender to use body wood that was not was not as figured. Over the first part of 1964 the clay inlay dots were changed to a pearloid, a pearl looking plastic. Also the pickguard was changed from the mint-green celluloid to a stark white ABS material. With the "L" in the serial number, this makes this guitar a "Pre-CBS" Stratocaster. Features:
• Pearloid fingerboard dots
• Plastic white three layer pickguard
• "Double line" Kluson Deluxe Tuners
• Less dramatic right forearm contour
• "Gray bottoms" Single Coil Pickups
• Peghead Fender decal has 4 patent numbers 1965 Pre CBS Fender
