"How it's done"
Swirls & Bowling Ball Finish
First the body is sealed so that water will not seep into the
screw holes etc. Then the guitar is submerged in water, the urethane paint is
floated on the top of the water. Then the guitar body is pulled through ever so
gently.
Marbleizing By Hand
This finish is achieved with tissue paper, cotton balls, a razor
blade and gold leaf. Very time consuming and painstaking work.
Marbleizing Electrostatically
This extremely dramatic finish process is done using a million
dollar machine. Sorry it is no longer available. The owners of the machinery
are no longer interested in such small potato jobs as electric guitars. I have
about 15 of these left the prices range from 150.00 to 400.00 for a body. This
finish is so unbelievably realistic that when someone picks up the guitar they
fully expect it to be made from Solid Italian Marble. All the bodies I
have left are 25" scale so don't try to use a Warmoth neck. You will need a 25"
scale neck (Paul Reed Smith scale). |
